Scott Library is excited to once again host the Carnegie Science Center’s wonderful traveling science program for kids, which is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKine. This year it’s all about Chemistry!
Students entering grades 2 thru 6 in the Fall of 2008 are welcome to participate. During this 4 day program, your budding Scientist will don their very own lab apron and safety goggles, (which they are welcome to take home at the end of the session). They will conduct experiments such as; growing crystals from saturated solutions, explore paper chromatography, experiment with dry ice, watch molecules race, make silly putty and experiment with thermochemistry, creating reactions that are hot and cold. Student Scientists will also be given an activity book full of science information and experiments to do at home.
This free program will be run in 2 sessions from:
Monday, August 11th through Thursday, August 14th.
Session 1 will be 12:30 – 1:15 for those entering grades 2-4
Session 2 will be 2:00 – 2:45 for those entering grades 4-6
(Please note 4th graders can be in either session)
Pre-registration is required and a parental release form must be signed before any child is allowed to participate. Do not register if your child can not attend every day! You will take away limited space from a child who is truly interested.
Confirmation and parental release forms will be issued closer to the date of the program. Sign up is on a first come first serve basis. Please inform us ASAP if your plans change.
Location: Meeting Room
