Wedding Announcements for the week of Oct. 3, 2007
Whalen-Uhrin
Nicole Christine Whalen and Ryan James Uhrin were united in marriage on June 30, 2007, at Heinz Chapel in Oakland with Rev. James Wehner officiating.
A reception at the Omni William Penn Hotel followed the ceremony.
Elaine Whalen, sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Lisa Corradi, Kristen Elk, Michelle Opferman, Melanie Semelka, Stacie Vaughan, Katie Wesolowski and Holly Whalen.
Groomsmen were Basil Aboosi, Ian DeJesus, Chad Mikolajcik, Mike Mirilovich, Jason Murphy, Mike Semelka and Jason Whalen.
Anthony Semelka and Joseph Semelka were ringbearers.
The parents of the bride are George and Christine Whalen of Scott Township.
The parents of the groom are James and Barbara Uhrin of Greensburg.
Nicole's gown incorporated a flower from her mother's wedding dress, and the "Tears of Joy" packets were made from her mother's wedding veil.
Nicole graduated from Chartiers Valley High School in 1996 and from Ohio University in 2000 with a BS in hearing and speech sciences. She earned her master's degree in speech and language pathology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002.
She is employed as a speech and language pathologist with the Fairfax County (Va.) Public Schools.
Ryan graduated from Hempfield Area High School in 1996 and Penn State University in 2001 with a BS in civil engineering.
He is employed as senior project engineer for Balfour Beatty in Fairfax, Va.
After a honeymoon to Bermuda, the newlyweds reside in Fairfax, Va.
