Bridgeville Area News to close
Trib Total Media will cease publication of the Bridgeville Area News after this edition.
"It saddens me to close the Bridgeville Area News but consumers and advertisers have been telling us that they want different approaches to local news and advertising," said Ralph Martin, President and CEO of Trib Total Media. "These communities, which at one point were much more insulated from the greater Pittsburgh area, are really part of the fabric of the larger community, and we recognize that their news needs often extend beyond their municipal borders. The Neighborhoods section that we publish Thursdays in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has really taken off and reflects that many readers in these communities see themselves as part of a greater whole."
Readers and advertisers still will have access to local news and targeted advertising opportunities through Trib Total Media.
Advertisers will have entree into the Neighborhoods sections, and will have access to targeted, community-level advertising via the Pennysaver product offerings. Pennysaver products reach virtually every household in Allegheny County each week and beginning next week, will be produced in a bigger, classified format with more color.
The Pennysaver and the Gateway weeklies are part of the Trib Total Media portfolio, which includes seven daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines and Web sites that provide news and information throughout Western Pennsylvania.
